Over 40 live web sites, each one gets better looking and more efficient, (if I do say so myself). I'm so happy to have found a career that I truly enjoy. Embryo Design is just me, a freelance web developer, designer and programmer. My specialties include search engine optimization, user friendly interfaces, and eye catching graphics and layout. I pay attention to detail and try to anticipate issues before they arise.

Title: Webmaster 9/1/2007 - 8/1/2011 |

The only web developer and an integral part of a 2 person team that took the company from under $50k per year in annual revenue to over $1.5 million dollars in under 3 years.
Primary Responsibilities: Develop and maintain four ecommerce web sites, two using Zen Cart. www.petnutritionproducts.com, www.allpetsupplyrx.com , www.petsuppliesandmore.com and www.simplypetsuppies.com. When I started with PNP, they had a shopping cart that was proprietary and built in ASP and SQL. It was a bit clunky but I managed to maintain and develop new functionality for about a year. I then convinced the CEO that a new solution was the best route to go in order to grow. I recommended Zen Cart because I was already familiar with it, their budget was null, and it was free. The Zen Cart installations have more modifications than I can remember. I've also been told by other Zen Cart gurus that they could not tell it was Zen Cart. I'm very good with PHP and MySQL and added my own functionality to the shopping cart. I developed many internal administration areas to compliment the modifications made. I also developed an administration system that allows our pharmacy to manage prescription orders. And, I managed one SEO employee. My responsibilities also included all graphics (including both for web and print), SEO, SEM, maintaining the office network, configuring automated shipping systems, e-newsletters and email lists, shopping comparison site management (including data feeds), social media, vendor relations, troubleshooting customer issues, manage 17 other satellite sites, branding and just about anything else that was asked of me. I also created the PNP logo. |

I wouldn't trade my experience here for anything. This is where I learned my design skills in everything from print to packaging to advertisements to web site design. Thanks to IPI, I have 2 retail packages on the shelf, quite a few advertisements that ran in major computer trade magazines, a DVD package, and much more. IPI had 5 companies under its umbrella and I was responsible for the imagery for all of them. It was hectic at times but never dull.
Primary Responsibilities: Computer Graphics and Designs for the web and print, including: advertisements for major magazines, package design, merchandise design, software interface design, software beta testing and responsible for overseeing a group of 4 other designers. Other Responsibilities: Manufacturer and Vendor Relations, Customer Service, Trade Show Sales, Office Management, Network File Manager, Production Coordinator Fun Stuff: It was my pleasure to have been able to work at two Comdex trade shows in Las Vegas and Chicago. An opportunity to fly to Amsterdam, Holland for three days to deliver a bundle of DVD's, was hard to pass up. My greatest pleasure was my 5 weeks spent in Oxford, England to help conceive and design a DVD interface for a rock and roll documentary series. |
